The future is uncertain and the wise should take steps to avoid disaster, but wouldn't it be wise to also take into account man's history of abuse of information and statistics when planning such steps? There are far larger concerns facing mankind, those being for example:
Overpopulation and the human "petrie dish" disease farm that overcrowding creates; Social unrest from overcrowding;
The injudicious use of drugs - eg: - creating super-bugs and perpetuating HIV with drugs that do not cure, thus increasing the spread of Aids, MRSA, etc;
The continued appalling living standards in undeveloped countries (eg: the lower castes in India) where starvation is often a merciful release;
The increase in personal communication through developments in IT sweeping across developing countries suddenly removing natural cultural isolation, thus revealing inequality and liberal differences that can no longer be contained by ancient belief sets;

.. and the list goes on.. Okay, so that's maybe a bit heavy for this little blogg, but really.. come on! Instead of giving bureaucracy a license to oppress us, let's resist the bureaucrats' tendency towards self inflation, witch hunting and it's ever increasing burden on society. Let's do sensible things and have sensible figures put to us. Let's not encourage our colleagues, sons and daughters to go out on push bikes with such high risk factors (not to mention the amount of road space they take up). Let's get our priorities straight!
